Seriously, I haven't meant to be neglectful!

Wow, sorry I haven't updated in ages. I have been busy and lazy when I'm not busy. And to top it all off, Jake has been a pill lately. I've really had my patience tried. The biggest change around here is the toddler bed. Jake has been climbing out of his crib to the point that it isn't really safe any longer to have him in it. You know how it is when someone thinks they are good at something, they get careless. Well, I'm afraid that if we left his crib a crib, he would get careless on his way out of it and get hurt. So we converted it to a toddler bed.

Let's just say that the crib did work to the extent that Jake didn't climb out as often as he wanted out. Proof is the number of times he crawls out of his toddler bed. We started the toddler bed on Monday for a nap and it started out badly. I mean badly! But we were able to get him down for a nap after a looooong while.

Night time was terrible. I mean I am having to put him back in bed at least 30 times a night unless I have him fall asleep in my lap first. I would like to be able to teach him to fall asleep in his bed. That is going to take some time and a lot of patience. Today at nap time, I started at 12:05 and about 23 trips later, along with threats and stares, he finally went to sleep at 1:30 and he slept for 2 hours.

In other news we have had a lot of rain in our area. LOTS of rain. Which is nice as it turns everything green and Southern California desperately needed rain. I purchased Jake some adorable rain boots and he loves them. He shouts SHOOOZE (shoe) every time the sees them.

In other news, I attended one of the most difficult trials on the west coast, probably the most difficult trial in California. Saturday was a disaster and I retired my dog nearly the same moment I sent her out. Her reaction to the course was serious confusion. Sunday I sent her out and she found her sheep with a few re-directs. In fact, I just got to see the scores and saw that she only lost 2 points on her outrun. But she gripped (bit) a sheep at the top and was disqualified. But I was so happy that she found her sheep. The sheep were set about 700 yards from where I was. The dogs had to go over a huge ditch and up big hills. It was an awesome sight to see them find their sheep and bring them to our feet.

I went alone, daddy staying with Jake and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the alone time and the "me" time. It felt so sinfully bad that when I was taking a hot bath and surfing the internet on my lap top nested on the edge of the tub, I felt like the cops were going to knock on the door and arrest me for illegal activities.

So that's the latest and greatest with me. I am going to work on updating more.

Voter Rage!

So I figured I was pretty informed about my voting abilities. I had filled out my sample ballot, read it clearly. I watched the debates. I was pretty sure I knew everything I should know before entering the voting booth. I had a rough day with Jake today so hubby came home early so I could go get some well deserved "me" time, including time to vote.

I got a pedicure and a fancy coffee and headed to my polling place. On the radio I was listening to the talk radio station I normally listen to and heard something about Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger being upset that independent voters are not able to vote for a Republican presidential nominee in the primaries. Huh?

I thought surely that can't be true, I would have heard of this before. But it was true! Two years ago when we moved to our current location and I changed my voter info. I have always been a registered Republican, but I chose non-partisan thinking I had the option of voting any direction I wanted that way. I am more than a bit unhappy with the Republican party but non the less I was intending on voting for a Republican this primary. I figured they would get my primary vote, but I would make my final decision in November for who I think would be the best President, regardless of their party affiliation.

Unfortunately the California GOP took away my right to vote for a Republican candidate so I gladly took my Democratic ballot and voted for Obama! I'm not 100% sold on all his policies but frankly I wasn't 100% on any of the candidates policies. I came directly home from placing my ballot and pulled up some web sites and articles on why the CA GOP denied me, a non-partisan, well informed voter (or so I thought) the opportunity to vote for one of the worse selections for Republican candidates ever. I guess they are scared! Scared of independent thinking people. They want robot voters, who vote for their party regardless of issues. What are they afraid of? They have only accomplished one thing, further disenfranchising this voter!

Voting

I'm voting today. I've studied the propositions carefully, I've watched nearly every debate. I feel I'm a prepared voter. I take this seriously.

Anyone else in a state whose primary is today? Will you be voting?
