Family Birthday Party

We had a family birthday party for Jake on Sunday. It was really fun. It is such a wonderful thing to watch our boy being loved by our family. My dad and brother go NUTS over him and he over them. So fun. I even baked a special cake which everyone seemed to enjoy. I wasn't able to eat any, but I did enjoy some icecream and strawberries!

We had a ton of bubble making stuff and Jake used the croquet stake to pop the bubbles. He had a blast chasing them around. But I actually think the adults had more fun with the bubbles.

I also got a lot of photos of Jake with hubby's family but I'm not going to post them on the blog, as I don't know how they would feel about it. But they were there and he enjoyed them as much as he enjoyed my family.

Happy Birthday to My Large Marge

Large Marge turned one yesterday. I didn't get to blog about it as we were gone all day. But I thought I would make mention of it today. Especially since she's on my mind a lot this morning. She was very annoying last night. Guess what she got for her birthday? Her first doggie period. Gross, I know, but I thought I'd share. At this point we will not be spaying her as she shows lots of potential regarding her herding career and I'd like to keep my options open should I want to breed her.

Today we are having a family birthday party for Jake. But I'll tell Marge it is for her too!

Sheep photos.

Well Lupita still hasn't given birth. She looks miserable as she ambles across the pasture. Poor thing. I'll check on her in just a little while, but as of last evening, no babies. Frankly I think she's got twins. Only time will tell.

Other preggos include my three purebred Katahdin ewes. None of these girls are named. Katahdins are a hair breed of sheep. Basically hair sheep shed their wool in the summer so they don't need to be sheared. They are an easy keeping sheep.

BigMama and her baby boy are still doing well. He's a stinker. Yesterday I vaccinated him and the black ram lamb. They also got their tails banded and the black ram lamb was castrated. Tough day for them, but nothing they can't handle as they are healthy well cared for little boogers.

Typo's

Please excuse all my typos. Some days I look back at my posts and cringe! I just realized that in the previous post I had written. "he new" instead of "he knew" I have since changed it. Geeze I'm a dork!

Yeah, I think he knew it was his big day.

If you ask Jake how old he is now, he puts up his two fingers and proclaims, "Two"! He also spotted the candle shaped like a two on his cake and said, "Two". I think he is brilliant! And yes, I've see that kid that can recognize and say the names of all the US presidents. But hey, it's my kid and I think he is brilliant! He had a really good day, including his favorite dinner of Pizza, which sounds more like Pitzahhh when he says it. And then he ran to the counter and said, "two" meaning his cake. I had let him lick some frosting while decorating it and told him after dinner we would have some cake. Well, the little stinker didn't forget! We had to rush and get his cake for him. In our house, this is a big treat as we don't allow him sweets very often. He enjoyed every bite of his cake! Before Pitzahhhh and cake we played baseball outside. Daddy got him a new T-ball baseball kit and he was blasting balls all over the yard. He really got the concept of Ting up the ball. So fun.

Two!

Jakesepialr_2

My darling Jake, today you turn two-years-old. I knew having a child would bring joy into our lives, but I had no idea how much joy YOU would bring into it. You have brought more joy to your dad and I than you can ever imagine. I knew having a child would mean more love in the house, but I had know idea how much love I could feel for someone until you arrived. These past two-years have honestly been the greatest two-years of my life. Each day your bring more love and more joy into our lives. Each discovery, each new word, each milestone, each challenge, it accumulates into this huge ball of love that surrounds you. I just want to squeeze you some days and soak more of it in.

Your vocabulary is not a big as some toddlers just turning two, but you get your point across very well. And, nearly every word you do say is crystal clear. Strangers can tell the difference between HAT and HOT when you speak. Nothing sounds better to me than when you say Mama or Dada. For my birthday last month you said "Sheep" for the first time. It was probably the best gift I've ever received.

You are physically advanced for a two-year-old. You can climb fences better than most adults I know. Just this past Saturday night you climbed 5 rails of a fence at our friend's home, all to get a better few of the horse. You are already in a toddler bed (and have been for a few months) because you were climbing out of your crib all the time. You hit golf balls with your clubs really well. You can throw left handed better than right handed. You are really good a lot of things, I couldn't possibly list them all.

You hate using utensils when eating a meal, you hate shutting the sliding glass door behind you and you hate getting your hair cut with clippers. But other than those few things you are an easy going, happy toddler.

You love the dogs and you love your sheep and goat. You LOVE Pizza. I've had to start telling you that other things are pizza just so you try it. I think your love for pizza came about cause daddy lets you put the cheese on it. (we make our own). Now I even call chicken "Pizza chicken" just so you'll give it a try. Sneaky mommy. You love baths, wooden puzzles and the dump truck daddy gave you when you were 9-months-old. You push that thing all over the yard and house for what seems like hours a day. You love being independent and discovering new things. You LOVE rocks. Oh my son, rocks bring you so much joy. Sometimes it drives me crazy, but most of the time it just cracks me up when I find rocks in all your pockets or when you come into the house with a big handful of rocks and you smile at me and proudly show me your loot. So adorable!

You are great about taking naps most days and going to bed is no problem for you now that you are used to your toddler bed. You sleep straight through the night and generally you wake up very happy. You drink the grossest soy milk ever, but you love it and won't drink regular milk at all. It cracks us up how you take that chalky nasty unsweetened soy milk and suck it down but spit out a sip of regular milk.

Jake, you truly are an amazing person. The people who know you in person all want me to get you into the tv/movie business. They all say how special you are and I think they want you in movies or TV cause they want to show you off to the world. You have an energy and charm about you that very few people have. I know I'm biased cause I'm your mommy but so many people who are around you, even for a short time see it. Quite frankly, you've got charisma. (we however, will not be pursuing tv/movie fame for you).

When you wake up in the next half hour or so I'm going to give you a big hug, sing you happy birthday (sorry about the singing) and pour you a big sippy cup of gross soy milk. Tonight you get candles and birthday cake and more hugs. Sunday we have a family party. I'm going to take plenty of pictures so that you can see for yourself what an amazing little boy you are at two-years-old.

Happy Birthday Jake I love you!

BaaBaa Black Sheep! My new favorite photo!

Baaaaybeeee Jake's favorite new word.

Big Mama and her newborn lamb had to come back to the house yesterday. Her mastitis flared up again...big time! So she's getting milked multiple times a day by me and she gets medicine. I must say that in just one day it has cleared up a lot.

It is hard to hear but if you listen carefully you can hear Jake call the lamb, "Baaaabeee". Please note my son's obsession with poop, "Kaka". I could watch this lamb jump and play all day. Oh and the reason Big Mama is tied up and has to wear a halter is because I need to catch her twice a day to give her shots. She is extremely hard to catch without a lead on.

Found a comfortable place

Thanks to a lovely reader of this blog who emailed me, I found an IVF forum that I feel comfortable in. Funny enough I had actually been on that forum and posted a question about a particular doctor just a short while ago and never got a response so I hadn't really read the other posts. I now have it book marked and have been reading the threads.

I avoid threads that I think are going to annoy me and pretty much stick to the threads about medical topics and the like. It has certainly helped me to read a forum with some serious IVF'ers in it because I have much better questions to present to our doctor on April 29.

BigMama had a boy!

Our first lamb of the season is a ram lamb. She had him this morning between 7am and 10:30am. I'm thinking she probably had him around 10am. He was still very wet when I found them. Both mom and baby our doing well. Two more ewes look ready to pop at any moment. The little ram lamb is really cute. He has freckles on his nose. BigMama is being a very attentive and nice mommy and all the other sheep seem to be great extended family. All excited to see him and nobody being pushy with him.
