So I had an appointment with my OB today. I sure like this doc. Jake went with me. Daddy decided it was better to go to the U/S appointment next Monday instead. Jake did great at the office. He sat quietly during my exam and was very good about listening to me when I asked him "to sit quietly for just a minute". When the doppler was on my tummy and we were listening to the babies' heartbeats I said, "Can you hear the babies". And he said, "babies .... vroom vroom". I guess that rhythmic woooshooing sound seemed like a machine of some sort. Very cute I thought. The doctor was so sweet, she kept commenting on what a great boy he was. And then she said, "You are always so happy when you come in here, he must get that from you". I thought that was sweet.
I asked her how it works as far a delivery, do I just get whoever is on call when I go into labor. And she said, yes, unless you have to be scheduled for a C-section. I said, "Oh no, we won't be needing that. We are going to have full term, healthy head down babies". She smiled and said, "Okay, good, I like your attitude". Power of positive thinking right?
Both babies heart rates were normal. My blood pressure was perfect. I'm measuring at about 36 weeks along, so not a big change from 3 weeks ago when I was measuring at 35. I didn't think I'd grown very much, so it was nice to know I was right. I've gained quite a lot of weight, can't remember exactly how much since 3 weeks ago, but basically 30 pounds since the day I got pregnant. Frankly, I could care less about the weight. I certainly don't feel fat, I feel pregnant and I think my body rocks right now. The only other time in my life that I've said that was when I was on the Phen Fen diet, was a size 4 with 28 DD boobs. LOL!
After my doc appointment I had to go down stairs to the lab for another 1 hour blood glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. Can I repeat again. MY KID ROCKS! Jake was such a good boy. He was just a blast to have with me. I was prepared my doc may ask me to do this today. So I had packed an extra granola bar for him and plenty of books. We read books, took a walk around the hospital. And of course, since we are potty training we used the bathroom twice. The second bathroom that was in the lab, had one of the sensors on it that automatically flushes when you stand up. Well it didn't register Jake. So in the middle of his peeing, it flushed. He jumped off that potty so fast, I thought something bit him. Poor kiddo! But I'm happy to stay, no accidents! He's being really good about using public big potties.
I'm not worried about gestational diabetes. I check my blood sugar about once a week after a lunch or breakfast and it's always been really good. I had a protein shake for breakfast this morning and water, so that shouldn't skew my numbers. I hope I don't have to take the 3 hour test. I would not put Jake through that!
Things are going pretty well. I feel really good. I'm not too uncomfortable. I'm doing my home study birthing course and listening to the CD's. (more on this in another post). I'm sleeping well at night. Well, other than waking up at 4-4:30 every morning. But I take a nap or at least rest a little during the day and go to bed early so not too bad. Over all I feel like I'm an extremely lucky preggo! (for more reasons than just feeling great of course!!!!)
So glad everything is going well for you and the lil ones...all three of 'em! Love the "babies...vroom vroom!" He's such a smart little guy!
